Champaign and Urbana are located in the East Central region of Illinois at the intersection of Interstate Highways I-57, I-74, and I-72. The cities are conveniently located 138 miles south of Chicago (2.5 hour drive from O’Hare International Airport), 124 miles west of Indianapolis, and 168 miles northeast of St. Louis.
Willard Airport (www.flycmi.com) in Champaign/Savoy (approximately 5 miles south of campus) is the closest airport to the University of Illinois. Daily flights are offered to and from Chicago O’Hare (by American Eagle), Detroit (by Northwest Airlink), and Dallas/Ft. Worth (by American Eagle). Willard is a small, though modern, airport with four gates, operated by the University of Illinois. The airport code for Willard is "CMI".
